Children’s Community School is proud of the varied paths our graduates take.  After all, we do not define success narrowly - we think that the greatest compliment we can get is knowing that all kinds of children who spend seven years at CCS make all kinds of choices as they enter the world.  The following are profiles of some of our graduates of whom we are so proud:

image Brandon DiMassa (CCS ’87) graduated from Washington University in St. Louis (majoring in Business Administration and Management). Brandon is married with two young children and is the Vice President of Digital Media Syndication.

image Aaron Amitin (CCS ’88) graduated from the University of Pennsylvania (BA) and Columbia University’s Teacher’s College (MA) before teaching at CCS and then on behalf of Teach for America.  Aaron currently works in the real estate industry as the Vice President of The Domain Companies in New York.

image Maya Kelly (CCS ’89) graduated from the University of Michigan (BA), Columbia University Teacher’s College (MA) and received her Ph.D. in School Psychology from Loyola University. Maya is married and is a School Psychologist at a Los Angeles independent school.

image Zach Wyner (CCS ’89) graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz (majoring in Theatre) and is currently pursuing his MFA in Creative Writing from the University of San Francisco. Zach was a teacher at CCS for three years.

image Zoe Diltz (Pratt) (CCS ‘89) graduated from San Diego College (majoring in Nursing). She is married, has two young children and is a Registered Nurse at Seton Medical Center in Texas.

Kanayo “Jason” Agbodike (CCS ’90) graduated from Princeton University (majoring in Philosophy) and earned his Ph.D. in Comparative Literature at the University of California at Berkeley.  Jason speaks five languages and is a Professor at the University of California, Berkeley.

image Ari Winbush (CCS ’91) graduated from Macalester College (majoring in Biology) and earned his Ph.D. in Neurobiology at the University of Oregon.

image Emily Amitin (CCS ’92) graduated from Syracuse University (majoring in Biology). She is married and completing her Ph.D. in Evolutionary Biology at the University of Maryland. Emily taught at CCS for one year.

image Nico Slate (CCS ‘92) graduated from Stanford University, Oxford University (he is a Rhodes Scholar) and is completing his Ph.D. in History at Harvard University. His dissertation is entitled “Reflections of Freedom: Race, Caste, and the Shared Struggle for Democracy in the United States and India.” Nico speaks five languages and is a Harvard University Professor.

image Halbe Dougherty-Wood (CCS ’93) graduated from Occidental College (majoring in Diplomacy and World Affairs) and is currently pursuing her MA at the University of Southern California in Public Administration. She is also the Senior Development Officer at the Posse Foundation.

image Meko Winbush (CCS ’93) graduated from Occidental College (majoring in Art History and Visual Arts).  Meko currently is a film editor.

image Cara McGee (CCS ‘95) graduated from Columbia University (majoring in African-American Studies). Cara teaches at CCS as our Dance Specialist.

image Sophie DuBois Hunter (CCS ‘95) graduated from the University of Chicago (majoring in History and Geography). Sophie is currently a Conservation Assistant at the Los Angeles Natural History Museum.

image Jesse Young (CCS ‘96) graduated from Wesleyan University (majoring in Government). Jesse currently works as a Legislative Aid to a Connecticut congressman.

Jamie Stevenson (CCS ‘97) graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara (majoring in Economics) and is currently pursuing her MA in Economics from California State University at Long Beach. Jamie worked at CCS as a Summer Camp Site Director for two years.

image Rebecca Giat (CCS ‘96) is engaged to be married and runs parenting groups in Boston, MA.  She has her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Wheelock University in Human Development/Parent Education.

image Marco Rufolo-Roger (CCS ’98) is an Eagle Scout, graduated from Boston University (majoring in History and Theatre), spent a summer in Bosnia teaching English to children, and currently works with autistic children. He is preparing to apply to the Peace Corp.

image Jaqueline Meyer (CCS ‘00) is attending Barnard College and studying architecture.

image Emily Beyda (CCS ‘02) is attending New York University and is a musician.
