Reminders

06 26 08 13:07CCS 2008-2009 Calendar is now online!

Click on Calendar (to your left under For Our Community)

As you check out this calendar, please note that as usual there are 5 In-Service Days (pupil-free days) that are dedicated to professional staff development. On those days, the staff will be gathering to discuss specific areas of our curriculum, visting other schools and delving into our Storytelling Project (more on that to follow later...).

There are also 5 Writing Days (pupil-free days) that are set aside for the teaching staff to intensely focus on and produce the CCS Learning Records that we are so proud of. How CCS engages in assessment will be a topic for an upcoming Parent Education Coffee early in the school year. These "mini-books" on each CCS student are the result of extensive observation of students and a collaboration amoung the many teachers who interact with each student.

You'll notice that we're trying a new conference schedule -- splitting the days between two weeks. We hope that this will give students more consistency and break up the half day schedule.

Remember, CCS offers arts programming on all non-pupil days. For a very reasonable fee, your child can come to CCS on some or all of those days and work on a great project. More information about this will be in the packet mailed to you in the late summer.

Finally, All School Meetings will continue to take place on Friday afternoons. We hope you will join us as often as your schedule allows to watch the CCS student body communicate with each other about their classroom activities. (And of course, we'll be singing together too.)

The office is staffed all summer, so if something comes up, please don't hesitate to be in touch!

Happy Summering!
