Children's Community School is a progressive elementary school in Van Nuys, California, north of Los Angeles. For 25 years, CCS has stressed hands-on learning, a diverse environment, and involvement with the community around it. Guided by its founding director, the staff, and its board of directors, CCS looks forward to the future. Admissions applications are accepted and evaluated on a year-round basis.

Childrens Community School's annual community service project is the Van Nuys Health Fair & Family Festival. The Health Fair serves over 500 people each year providing immunizations, blood pressure checks, eye exams, dental exams, flu shots, and information about a variety of organizations available to assist families.

The Health Fair not only provides a crucial service for our neighborhood (who have come to rely on these free services), but is also an important way for CCS parents to demonstrate to our children responsibility for each other.

Funding for the Health Fair has come from a variety of sources each year including:

California Endowment

California Wellness Foundation

Keyes Auto

Los Angeles City Councilman Tony Cardenas

Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky

Los Angeles Department of Recreation

And our partners for the Health Fair have included:

El Pollo Loco Kaiser Permanente

Mid Valley Chamber of Commerce

Providence/Holy Cross Medical Center

Valley Community Clinic

Volunteer Center of Los Angeles

Western Bagel
