Children's Community School is a progressive elementary school in Van Nuys, California, north of Los Angeles. For 25 years, CCS has stressed hands-on learning, a diverse environment, and involvement with the community around it. Guided by its founding director, the staff, and its board of directors, CCS looks forward to the future. Admissions applications are accepted and evaluated on a year-round basis.

Children's Community School is a school for all children. We do not have academic admission criteria and feel that every child can benefit from a CCS education. Diversity at CCS has a broad definition, including racial, economic, ethnic, religious, learning and other differences. In over 25 years of experience with children from so many different backgrounds and traditions, we have found that our approach to educating children cultivates areas of strength and develops areas needing support.

A CCS education allows each child to learn at their own pace, and to pursue particular passions within the context of a community of learners. All of the enjoyment, enrichment, and challenge that working with others offers is part of the experience of every CCS graduate. Children leave CCS with a sense of themselves as learners and as community members, knowledge which will prove invaluable as they grow and develop as students and as citizens working to improve and sustain a democratic society.
